Winter training week - Dogsledding
Duration 5 days and 4 nights
- November 28 - dec 2
- December 5 - 9
- December 12 - 16
- 2023 January 2 - 6
What can be experienced:
During this week you will spend a lot of time with the dogs. Right next to the husky farm or on mountains with your own dog team. After a long day out and a good hot meal you can enjoy the sauna, and maybe get the chance to see the Northern Lights!
We teach you the basics of running a dog team and training the dog team to master the mountains in the north. We go out on sled trips every day and stop for lunch, maybe we can warm up some tasty delicacies from the area. We use smaller dog teams, of 4-6 dogs per team, this to give you the mastery of running a dog sled. We sledge between 25 to 60 km every day depending on the snow conditions and the weather that week.
We will be out on an overnight trip once, where we will stay at a mountain cabin. The goal is to train the dogs to sleep on a stake-out line, and let them get used to the overnight routines again! This is the opportunity for a truly Northern Lights experience, on the plateau with just the nature around us and great opportunities for Northern Lights.
In addition to the dog training, we will spend time preparing for the winter season: you will learn to make the dog sleds ready for the long trip, see how we plan the trips for the main season, and take care of the dogs in a professional manner.
